  • The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) publicly named ten men who he himself guaranteed would be in Paradise in the hereafter. One of these fortunate men was Abu 'Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him). He was one of amongst who accepted Islam in its early days in Makkah. He took part in the migrations to Ethiopia and Al-Madinah, for the sake of preserving his faith. He fought in all the major battles of Islam and spent most of his life as a soldier fighting for the cause of Islam. He even killed his own father in battle when his father vowed to slay him for accepting Islam. Praising his character, the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said: "Every Ummah has a trustworthy man; Abu 'Ubaidah is the trustworthy man of this Ummah."
  • Khalid bin Al-Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him) was the hero of Islam. He led several battles and was always victorious. He conquered the apostates, especially Musailamah Al-Kadhab (the Liar) and restored order and peace to the Arabian Peninsula. He devised military tactics, which, by the help of Allah, made him defeat the huge Roman army. He was very tough with his enemies but at the same time very lenient with his brother Muslims. When he died, Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) cried and said: "Women would never give birth to one like you."
  • Sa'd bin'Abi Wagqas (may Allah be pleased with him) is one of the most outstanding heroes of Islamic history. Being one of the early converts to Islam in Makkah, his life story is filled with adventures and struggles for the sake of Islam. The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to affectionately greet him by mentioning their kinship, as Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) was the Prophet's uncle. His valor and skill in battle, combined with his religious devotion led to him being referred to as "The Lion in the Den" His leading the Muslim armies in their conquest of Persia resulted in the conversion of the people of Iraq and Iran to Islam.
